Product Description

Sheet music for the Sonatina in E-flat Major, Op. 20, No. 6 by Bohemian composer Jan Ladislav Dussek. An ambitious two-movement sonatina, it anticipates some of the expressive dynamism and playfulness of Beethoven.
The first movement is in sonata form, with a stamping main theme over a rapid Alberti bass in 16th notes. The second theme bursts forth with falling scales and rising arpeggios, then an extended melody in thirds over broken octaves in the left hand. The development, boldly expressive, leads back to the main theme.
Then comes the second movement in 6/8, a charming rondo with a wistful main theme, whose subsequent sections give excellent practice with fast scales on the right hand and a torrent of Alberti bass 16th notes on the left.
An outstanding technical piece for the advanced student, and an effective preparation for the more challenging sonatas of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. 10 pages.
